Jon studied furniture design at the Rhode Island School of Design and mechanical engineering at Brown University. Since graduating from both colleges in 2013, he has worked at Ximedica, a medical device development firm in Providence, RI, where he is designing instruments for a surgical robot.
Jon spent his summers in college working at Nakashima Woodworker, minutes away from his childhood home in Pennsylvania, where he studied and worked within George’s philosophies of design, craftsmanship, and proportion. The influence of the philosophers, architects, and designers whose books line the shelves in Nakashima’s Conoid Studio, along with the principles of engineering and mathematics that were the focus of Jon’s academic study, can be seen in Jon’s approach to design.
He designs and builds furniture out of his workshop in Pawtucket, RI, the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, inside a repurposed mill building.
